Hikayat Kembara Cikgusir ke Chennai | 6 September 2025, KUL–MAA

And so, a journey destined long before begins. A journey to a land I had never once imagined setting foot in. At precisely 9:25 a.m. Malaysia time, Malaysia Airlines flight MH182 carried Cikgusir and fellow companions across the vast Indian Ocean, bound for Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, India. Just under four hours later, at 10:45 a.m. local time, we made a safe landing.

From the airport, we were whisked straight to our new home for the months ahead: CITADINES OMR CHENNAI. A small but warm reception awaited us, complete with kind words of welcome and the comforting aroma of local dishes prepared specially for our arrival. Soon after, room keys were handed out, and we found ourselves settling into spaces that were not only neat but pleasantly comfortable.

Yet, once the unpacking was done and the room fell silent, my thoughts naturally drifted back across the miles to my beloved wife and family left behind in Malaysia. A wave of melancholy washed over me, made heavier still when I discovered my phone was having roaming issues. Only within the hotel’s WiFi range could I manage to call home and hear her voice again.

Sitting quietly in that room, I couldn’t help but wonder about the days ahead, what they would hold, what challenges and blessings might unfold. All I could do was whisper a prayer: may everything here go smoothly, and may all be well with those I’ve left behind for now.

|| Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is one of India’s largest cities and a cultural, economic, and educational hub in the southern part of the country. With a history spanning over 400 years, it is renowned for its classical music, Bharatanatyam dance, ancient temples, and the expansive Marina Beach. Today, it thrives as a bustling metropolis where heritage and modernity meet. ||

Air pasang tengah jalan,
Pasang mari terus ke pagi;
Jika terkenang tengah makan,
Air mataku jatuh ke nasi.
